Day camp is hosted once a month during the academic year (September-May) on Saturdays.
Week long summer camp is held early June through Early August. See our calendar for available dates!
Are the camps the same each month?
Not at all! We are always changing our experiments to keep everyone (including our mentors) excited, eager and engaged. In fact, in the five years we have been running SMILE Camp, we have only repeated a handful experiments.
What should my child wear to camp?
Campers should wear lab-appropriate clothing. This includes: closed toed shoes, and a jacket in winter months. All safety equipment will be supplied.
How do I check-in on the day of camp?
Parents need to arrive 30 minutes prior to camp start time. Check-in occurs just inside the building in the front lobby. After checking in, new campers will pick up their lab notebook, pencil, and safety glasses. Campers will be directed to their assigned group. Before the experiments begin, campers will meet their mentor, other group members, and will carry-out team building exercises!
What experiments will my child do each month? SMILE Camp is more about the experience than the individual experiments. Each month, we aim to do three (3) experiments. Since we are always creating new experiments, and rarely repeat prior ones, it is difficult to publish a list ahead of time. However, I can assure you all that all of our experiments are hands on and usually involve making or creating something that campers can bring home. We always rotate between the science disciplines (Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science, and Physics) so campers can develop an appreciation for all aspects of science exploration.
