Campers with Special Needs
SMILE has a 1:4 staff to camper ratio. In order to carry out the complex hands-on programs that we offer, a lot of staff/camper interaction is required. With this level of staffing, we are in a good position to work with lower-support needs ADHD and autistic spectrum students. We pride ourselves on being able to provide an inclusive program that creates community for these groups.
The thing that we cannot tolerate is behavioral problems. Because of the safety issues surrounding behavior, we do not tolerate picking, horseplay, or an inability to follow rules - it simply isn't safe.
